Great Wolf Lodge

This past Thursday, the girls' school celebrated Fiesta! All of the Kindergarteners participated in a Shoebox Float Parade for the school, which was a lot of fun! Each class had a party in the afternoon with a Fiesta themed craft {Hadley's class made Fiesta medals, and Shelby's class made sombreros}, nacho bar, & churros!

The girls had Friday off from school thanks to Fiesta, so we took advantage of the long weekend and made our first trip to Great Wolf Lodge, which is a hotel with an indoor water park near Dallas. We had a lot of fun! Shelby was tall enough to do all of the big slides, and Hadley was tall enough to do all but one--and she surprised us and was very adventurous! I think the kids' favorite part might have been the hotel--they were totally in awe when we walked into the front lobby! And of course, the "Wolf Den" & bunk beds in our room were a HUGE hit! We left our phones in our room when we were in the water park, so I don't have too many photos of our weekend..but here are a few!

The picture above was on our way to the Jammie Jamboree--a pajama dance party before the bedtime storytime in the main lobby of the hotel. All of the free kids' activities the hotel offered for the kids was one of my favorite parts of Great Wolf Lodge!

We're all still trying to recuperate from our fun-filled weekend! Late nights, early mornings, lots of swimming, and LOTS of stairs going up for big water slides makes for tired kids...and tired parents, too!! But this little weekend getaway definitely got me geared up for summer--bring on Aquatica, summer days by our new pool, and THE BEACH! :)

Easter 2019

The girls had Good Friday off from school, so it was a 3 day weekend for them! Thankfully we didn't make any big plans b/c Shelby ended up coming down with a little stomach bug from school on Wednesday night. It was nice to have Friday at home to rest & recuperate. Aside from Derek working on Friday and me serving in the 3-5 year old class at our church's Easter services on Friday & Saturday evening, we really didn't leave the house much! We did dye eggs on Saturday, and it was Brady's first time getting in on the fun!

We woke up to a trail of jelly beans & dark chocolate M&M's that the Easter Bunny left behind leading to the kids' Easter baskets!

We made it to church on Sunday morning & found the Easter Bunny!

After lunch, we had a little egg hunt in our front yard.

On Easter afternoon, we headed over to a little party at our neighbors' house before coming home for our Easter dinner & swimming. :)  Our neighbor happened to snap a picture of us in their backyard, and I'm so glad she did b/c that was the only family picture we got! She also got a great shot of a very a happy Hadley post egg hunt! :)

It was a fun weekend, and we're gearing up for another 3 day weekend thanks to Fiesta! Fingers crossed for no more sickness!

Life Lately

How is it already April?! I didn't intend to let so much time pass before I updated the blog again. Nothing major to report, but of course lots of pictures that I need to get uploaded before my phone fills up with Easter pictures!

In house-related news, Derek has officially finished building our new dining room table {next up are the benches to go with it!}, and we {and by we, I mainly mean Derek} put down 6 pallets of sod about 2 weeks ago! Our yard is slowly recovering from the pool excavation/sprinkler repair! My Ladies Bible Study wrapped up about a week or so ago, and I'm excited b/c we're going to try to keep our group together with a monthly Bunko over the Spring/Summer months! The Parenting Life Group that Derek & I have been leading has two weeks left, so we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Brady has started taking private swim lessons 3 days/week recently, and he's making great progress! We're hopeful we'll have him swimming by the time summer rolls around! And in other Brady-related news, I think he was officially our easiest kid to transition out of the crib & the easiest to potty train! We kept the girls in diapers for naps/bedtime for a couple months after they were potty trained, but Brady essentially went straight to underwear full-time without any accidents in the bed! And as you can see in the pictures below, he is very secure in his manliness & has no trouble playing princess dress up or hair salon with his sisters. ;)  Actually, that's just all he knows, ha!

{Hadley adores tape & got a new tape set from my sister for her birthday..she had a blast creating masterpieces with it!}

{March Madness!}

{reading letters that came in the mail from Grandma & Granddad}

And last but not least, the water table that just won't quit! This it at least our sixth summer with this water table by my count, and it's still just as well loved & used it was when we first brought it home! Here are Hadley & Brady this past week with the water table & then a flashback to 2014!

Happy almost Friday to you!! We are ready to kick off our weekend!
