Monday Memes: Coronavirus

Who doesn't love a good meme?! I feel like memes have been particularly enjoyable in this unprecedented season for two reasons. First of all, some people have a lot more free time on their hands lately. ;)  And secondly, memes are best enjoyed when they're relatable, and we're certainly all in the same boat right now! All of these memes shared below go from oldest to newest {most recent} in my camera roll, which is interesting b/c you can kind of gauge from the memes what the temperature of society was at that point in the coronavirus pandemic & how society's perception has changed as the severity of the situation progressed over time. The one about this being our kids' "two mile walk uphill in the snow moment" might be one of my very favorites, but I love them all so much!

All memes aside, our family is healthy & doing well! Our kids don't seem to be fazed one bit by what's going on. Ironically, Brady is the only one who has asked to go places & he's usually the one who always wants to stay home. ;)  It's certainly not lost on me how fortunate we are to be experiencing a global pandemic that forces us to stay home in the midst of a beautiful Spring in South Texas. Being able to spend so much time out in the sunshine has done wonders for all of us!

Pre-coronavirus Life

I had a few pictures I forgot to post before we left for our Spring Break trip, which was just a couple of weeks ago..but it's crazy to think how much life has changed since then due to the coronavirus. Most of the pictures in this post are just random snapshots from around the house, but a few are from when Brady & I joined the girls for lunch at their school & at their Field Day. I now have a whole new appreciation for these pictures in light of everything that has been going on in our world.

This next picture was taken on our way out the door for school one morning simply b/c I thought she looked cute. :)  Who would have ever known that this might have been her second to last day of first grade at her school?

And Field Day! The last day the girls were at school before Spring Break :)

The day after we got home from our little Spring Break trip to Corpus Christi I took the kiddos to the library & for the girls to get haircuts. At the time, we had no idea that this would be our last day of normalcy.

SEVEN!

This sweet girl is SEVEN!

This birthday obviously felt a little different to me with everything going on in the world, and I was worried it wouldn't feel "special enough" for Hadley. We couldn't just run & out get balloons, there would be no special birthday outing, or treats shared with classmates. But this whole coronavirus situation with kids is such a powerful reminder of what really matters in this world. When Derek got home from work last night on Hadley's birthday, it was the first time he had seen her/talked to her all day. After he wished her a happy birthday, he asked her if she'd had a good birthday so far. She responded in the sweetest, most sincere voice I've ever heard: "Oh, yes!" It was enough to melt my heart. We had cake, we had a few presents {thank heavens for Amazon delivery!}, and we had our people. What more could you ask for?! She seriously had the best day.

This was how Hadley came downstairs after she woke up--she was READY for her birthday! All decked out in her favorite blue dress, her birthday headband, wearing her new sparkly H pin, and holing a birthday gift she'd opened the night before from BooBoo. :)

Hadley requested cinnamon muffins for her birthday breakfast, so that's just what we had! :)

We played outside quite a bit on her birthday {so grateful for the amazing weather we've had this week, so we haven't been cooped up inside!}, but reading old blog books was another highlight of the day for these kiddos. :)

While Brady napped we made birthday cake & then these two played outside on the deck with kinetic sand & water beads!

When Derek got home, we celebrated with dinner, presents, cake, and swim time! :)

Hadley loves all things blue, jewelry, and sparkly & she is an expert on styling her own hair. She is a ray of light, and we are just so thankful she's ours! Hadley Mae, we love you SO much & you are a JOY to celebrate!
