Disney Cruise, January 2025

The last week of January we took a Disney cruise out of Fort Lauderdale with my parents & the Robbins family! The weather was absolutely perfect, and we had the best time!

We had a red-eye flight to Denver before our flight to Florida. We found a Dunkin for breakfast in the Denver airport, which was a big hit since Dunkin isn't in Alaska.

After breakfast, the girls were reading & Brady was crocheting. A sweet lady stopped dead in her tracks walking through the airport because she couldn't get over him crocheting. ;)

We stayed the night in Fort Lauderdale with my parents & got dinner at Panera {which was a thrill to us since we don't have Panera in AK} before getting on the boat the next day!

{first time on the Aqua Duck ride!}

{Disney trivia, which was much harder than we all anticipated..but so fun!}

{Show time! Every night, there was a new show & they were all fantastic!}

{Castaway Cay!}

{my 41st birthday!}

{Lookout Cay}

This was our kids' first cruise & it was the first Disney cruise for all 11 of us! We all had soooo much fun! From unlimited to soft serve ice cream cones to the miniature golf & ping pong to the Disney private islands to the beautiful views...it was the perfect vacay! But the very best part was the time with our friends & family. What a gift it is to be able to travel & make memories together.

When we were saying our goodbyes as we got off the ship, my mom got a little teary-eyed saying how much they enjoyed getting to be with me on my birthday to celebrate. We couldn't remember the last time we were together for my birthday--our best guess was during college?! Living so far away from family for so long, we don't take opportunities like this for granted! To get to travel with your best friends from high school & your kids are now almost in high school?! For our kids to have the opportunity to travel & experience the world with their grandparents? We are just so, so thankful.

January 2025

Highlights of the month: Brady started a new homeschool class this semester, church camp for the girls, our Disney cruise!!! (post coming soon!), Hadley started rehearsing with Intermediate Band at school and with the district Honor Band, Shelby started cross country ski practice (which has been a real challenge with such little snow), and we have a back-to-back school spelling bee champion!

One of my tasks every January is to order our new blog book for the previous year. Unfortunately, the company that I have used to print our blog books ever since 2009 went out of business recently. So I had to research a few companies before I was able to order this year's book. The kids of course enjoyed perusing the old blog books during my research. It brings me such joy to see them enjoy our memories!

The picture below is of Brady & me reading in the car together before his homeschool classes began one morning. Brady had previously only taken P.E., but he mentioned that he wanted to "switch classes like the other kids." So he signed up for a reader's theater class followed by P.E. this semester, and it has been such a great fit for him!

Each week when I pick him up from his classes, we head to the library together! Our library has been putting puzzles out lately, which we both really enjoy!

A rare sighting of a snowfall this winter...we miss the snow!!!

{church camp drop-off}

{post church camp--they loved it!}

Brady & I went to Shelby's school spelling bee. He followed along with the word list as the kids spelled their words aloud. It was a fun way to keep him engaged!
