We have a few upcoming changes in our family that we are really excited about it! I'll share the biggest news first--we are going to get to stay in Biloxi for an additional year! We recently found out that Derek will be the Chief Resident here at Keesler when he finishes his residency next summer. We are so proud of him! I know he will do so well in this role, and we are ecstatic to stay here for another year! We have really grown to love Biloxi and have formed some great friendships here, and it doesn't hurt that we are only 6.5 hours from home! :) So we will officially be staying at Keesler AFB until the summer of 2014.
The next change is for Miss Shelby. Earlier this spring, we registered Shelby for a Mother's Morning Out program that will start in the fall. We are so excited..we know it will be a wonderful program for her! I was devastated when we first moved here b/c there were virtually no Mother's Morning Out programs on the Gulf Coast. I researched and did find several two year old preschools, but the age cut-off for all of them is September 1st. The teacher part of me was just aching over the fact that Shelby would miss the cut-off by just 16 days, which would mean she wouldn't be able to attend a school type of setting until she was nearly three. I just felt like that was too late for her b/c I know she is ready. I was just so disappointed..I started looking into Joy School, which is an at-home preschool curriculum for stay-at-home mamas. It looked like a great alternative, but it just wasn't what I really wanted. So I was beyond thrilled when a friend of ours from Kindermusik randomly mentioned they signed their little one up for MMO in Gulfport. It is a sweet little program that just wasn't really advertised, so it was easy to miss in my research. But I am just so thankful we found out about this program. We are really excited for Shelby, but it's so hard to believe our baby will be going to "school!"
And last but not least, I have taken on a new role for the fall as well. This past year, I joined the Keesler Spouses Club. And I just recently accepted a position as a board member for the upcoming year. I'm not really sure what I've gotten myself into, but it will be nice to have something other than housework & dirty diapers to worry about for a change! ;)
Now I've got to run...Derek's mom & step-dad arrived last night and are staying the weekend with us. It's always fun to have visitors, but Shelby's really getting to the age where she can enjoy it, too! She was such a ham last night showing them all of her toys and being silly..she was clearly loving all of the attention! :) We are looking forward to a fun weekend with family!
