Weekend in Review + Shelbyisms

The girls & I kicked off our weekend at one of our favorite places on Friday morning, the library!

When we first moved to San Antonio, I was so disappointed to learn that all of our local libraries do storytimes on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Shelby has school on those two days, which meant we've had to miss out on storytime for an entire year. I thought that would mean our visits to the library would significantly decrease--but that definitely hasn't been the case! The girls both still adore going to the library, and it doesn't hurt that our favorite library has a fantastic shaded playground with a paved little trail for bikeriding right it its backyard! I hope our girls always enjoy reading as much as they do now!

The girls both took crazy long naps on Friday afternoon, so we took an evening stroll after dinner to go check out the portion of our neighbohood that is under construction. The girls love walking through the homes that are being built and playing in the mounds of dirt and gravel that are in the lots. I was kicking myself b/c neither Derek nor I had our phones on us to snap some pictures b/c the girls were just too cute! Hopefully, next time we'll do better!

We spent Saturday morning at Sea World!

As we were walking through the park, Hadley asked to hold Shelby's hand & Shelby immediately
called out: "Mommy, look at us! Take our picture!" ;)  I think they might be on to how cute they are ;)

Mother's Day was a wonderful low-key day doing lots of our favorite things! My morning started out perfectly--Shelby let us sleep in until 7:30 instead of her usual 7, and then she & Derek left to get donuts so I got to stay in bed & read...delightful! :)  I had lots of nice little surprises from the three of them all day, and to top it all off Derek didn't have to study last night so we got to go to bed early! :) Geez, I guess I'm officially getting old since I am excited at the prospect of going to bed early, ha!! The only thing that would have been made our day better would have been spending it with our moms!

And then today at lunch, Shelby was reading over the nutrition facts on the back of the Chex Mix bag (she is obsessed with reading the labels on everything we eat!), she looked up at me and asked me what people who sell fans do at their job. Of course, my reply was: "What?" To which she said, "You know, the fans on the ceiling that go around and around? What do the people that sell them do?" I gave her my best explanation of a what a person who sells fan would do (where are the parenting classes that prepare for you these types of random questions?!?!), and she seemed pretty satisified with my response--"Okay, good. I'll write about that in my book when I'm an author." So if you're in the market for a book about fan sellers, I'll have a good recommendation for you in about 15 years or so! ;)

Happy Monday to you! :)
