Recent Reads

Here's a peek at what we've been reading lately! During the month of October, we enjoyed some witchy read-alouds--we re-read Roald Dahl's The Witches  & we also read The Marvelous Magic of Miss Mabel, which was new to us! I read aloud Pam Munoz Ryan's Echo to all three kiddos, and Ra the Mighty: Cat Detective was part of our homeschool curriculum. 

Of the books I read, I think my favorite of this bunch was Susan Meissner's Only the Beautiful. It was different than any other historical fiction book I've read, and it really stayed with me. I love a rom-com style book, and Abby Jimenez's Part of Your World was such a welcome return to a comfortable genre for me after reading Fourth Wing. Whenever I was out in public with my library copy of Fourth Wing, I invariably had people comment on it/ask me about it. I can't remember a time when another book in my hands has elicited that kind of reaction. It seems like this book is just all the rage right now, but I thought it was just okay. The jury is still out on whether or not I'll continue with the sequel!
