Fourth of July Fun!

Our Fourth of July fun started a little early as Eagle River does a small fireworks show at midnight on July 3rd. Shelby had a few friends going, so she joined in the fun with them. It's hard to do fireworks when it never gets dark, but they still had a great time together! Derek & I felt like we deserved parents of the year award for taking her to a midnight fireworks show after we have had movers in our house all week...oh, and also a visit from an electrician, three separate visits to check on our water heater/sump pump, an appraisal, a new oven installation, and driving the girls to/from multiple places to see friends. It was a doozy of a week!

We celebrated the Fourth of July in Willow, a small town about an hour north of Eagle River. Hadley has a friend with a lake house there who invited us to march in a little kazoo band with them in the annual Willow Fourth of July parade. There was a community picnic following the parade, and then Hadley spent the afternoon with her friends on the lake while the rest of us canoed together. It was sunny and 74 and just the most perfect summer Alaskan day!
