2026 Book Post #1

Happy 2026! We're kicking the new year off with a book post comprised of books that were read entirely in 2025...except the last few pages of one of our read-alouds that we finished on our New Year's trip to New Orleans. ;) But without further ado, here is a quick peek at what we've been reading lately!

Read-Alouds

Julieta and the Diamond Enigma by Luisana Duarte Armendariz: I read this aloud to Brady & Hadley as part of our homeschool curriculum. We all enjoyed this little mystery set in Paris!
Greenglass House by Kate Milford: This was another homeschool read-aloud for Hadley & Brady.
Poisoned King by Katherine Rundell: This was the much-anticipated sequel to Impossible Creatures. We all love this series!

My Reads
Summer in the City
by Alex Aster: This one had been very buzzy over the summer and had a crazy long hold list at the library, so I was anxious to finally get my hands on it! But it was just okay for me.
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson: My sister lent me this book after letting my mom read it. It's in the historical fiction genre, which is typically a home run for me. But this book was such a drag for me.
Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall: This was a good one! This was a Book Club pick by Reese Witherspoon.
Good Inside by Dr. Becky Kennedy: This was our school's most recent Book Talk selection. I was hesitant to read it because Dr. Becky is very trendy on social media, and when things are buzzy they tend to not live up to the hype for me. But I really liked this book! I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I read it!
Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister: This was another Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick that I enjoyed, so maybe I should keep reading her selections! This one was a thriller with the butterfly effect. I don't think I've ever read a book quite like this one!
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren: I read Tangled Up in You this summer by Christina Lauren & earmarked this holiday book to read in December. I find that Christmas novels tend to feel a little too cheesy for me, and this one was just that. It was okay, just a little too Hallmark-ish for my personal taste. But interestingly enough, the butterfly effect played a part in this plot, too!
