Happy Mardi Gras!
I never really celebrated this holiday before, but it is a BIG deal here on the Gulf Coast. I always thought it was just New Orleans, but apparently I was wrong. Since moving here, I have learned that Mardi Gras in the US actually started in Mobile..who knew?! And apparently, it's not just the day of Mardi Gras..there's a whole Carnival Season that starts on the 6th of January. People, it really is true--you learn something new every day. {Hopefully, I'm not the only person in the world that didn't know all of this stuff!} That is one thing I like about moving to different parts of the country--learning about different cultures along the way.
And because I am still a Kindergarten teacher at heart that has to bite my tongue out in public at times when I feel the urge to say "inside voices please," I like to wear clothing that coordinates with the holidays. Lame, I know. Now, don't get me wrong--I don't have any holiday sweaters. I'm not that bad! But I do like to make sure I always have pink and red on for Valentine's Day or wear my Dr. Seuss tshirt on March 2nd for his birthday. So naturally, I put on a green tank top and a purple shirt over it today in honor of Mardi Gras. {If I'm being honest, I actually had on a yellow tank at first..and then I realized that it made me look like an LSU fan, so I traded it in for a green tank..much better.} Anyone else out there color-coordinate their wardrobe for the day of a holiday? Hopefully I'm not the only nerd that does this. ;)
