We Made it to Texas! {And other tales of woe from moving}

We made it to Texas!!

The four of us in front of our new front door :)
I love this picture of us!!

Soooo much has happened since the last time I've posted, but we've had limited free time & inernet access so I haven't been able to update as much as I would have liked throughout this moving process. Here's my attempt to backtrack a bit...

The four of us in front of our house in Biloxi before we hit the road for TX!

Our final inspection on our house was Friday afternoon, and we were able to get on the road around 4pm. We did about 3hrs of driving on Friday evening and stopped for the night in Lafayette, LA before finishing the rest of the drive on Saturday.

A pit stop for lunch at Steak N Shake on the drive

We made it to our new house on Saturday evening! It was such a good feeling to finally pull up into our driveway! Shelby had an absolute blast running through a big empty house checking out all of the new rooms--she was so excited! We spent Sunday settling into our new home a bit, making a run to Target for some groceries & other necessities, and cleaning the kitchen drawers & cabinets out in preparation for the moving truck on Monday. Oh, Monday. I did not know what Monday would bring. Monday was our 2nd full day in the new house & our first day with Derek at work. I started the day calling the movers to find out what time the truck would arrive only to discover that not only would our household goods NOT be arriving that day as scheduled, but they were STILL IN MISSISSIPPI! Ugh. After calming down from the shock that we had already been without our stuff for a week and we had at least another 8 more days before our stuff would arrive, I tried figuring out why we didn't receive a mailbox key from our property manager. Turns out, there is no key & we needed to go to the post office to set our mailbox up...only to discover there is a 10day turnaround on the keys...that would have been good information to know before we started having our mail forwarded to our new address starting back on June 3rd! Ugh again. Next mini crisis of the day...ATT Uverse arrived at our house at 9:15 on Monday morning to set up our tv/internet. They didn't leave our house until 5:45 that evening, and at that time we STILL had no TV/internet access. Aaaahhh! One of the major complications ATT had during the installation was a storm that passed through our neighborhood that morning that knocked power out for about 3 or 4 hours. So second day in our house, no hubby, no stuff, no power, no mail...surely that's enough for one day, right?! Nope. Next mini crisis is the one that broke us all...the smoke detectors started going off and WOULD.NOT.STOP. It was so incredibly deafening & incessant. No matter what I did, they wouldn't stop. All 3 of us were in tears. It was just too much for one day.

Thankfully, Derek was able to sneak away from inprocessing for a bit to come to our rescue. Monday was just one of those days. Oh, and did I mention we also ran out of clean clothes on Monday? Moving really takes it out of you. Thankfully, Tuesday was a new day...and so much better! I'm starting to learn my way around the area {I despise driving in new areas, I get so nervous!} and we're figuring out this whole Texas thing together. We managed to finally aquire internet access & clean clothes on Tuesday...two big accomplishments! And we're even having a little fun!

Hadley enjoying our new neighborhood playground!

Shelby got a new Doc McStuffins doctor bag. She's giving Ernie a check-up in this picture :)  Love the smile on her face!

Hadley after our morning walk {in PJs still!} to the playground...can you tell by the dirt on her clothes that she had fun? ;)

We were so busy preparing for the move, we never really had too much sadness or nostagia as we left Biloxi. But, it sure has hit us hard here. We're all a little homesick for Biloxi & our dear Keesler friends. Change sure is hard. Thankfully, not much longer until the Goins & Gallimores join us in San Antonio!

I have lots more pictures from our last days in Biloxi that I still want to share...now that we finally have internet, I'll try to do that soon! :)
