Life Lately

The kids & I are now on Day 39 of our "shelter in place" lifestyle {Derek is the only who comes & goes for work/grocery runs/curbside pickup orders}, and I think I'm the only one who has experienced any cabin fever. The girls seem totally fine with everything & are somehow getting along better than they usually do?! Before all of this coronavirus mess started, Brady would always wake up in the morning and ask me if it was a "stay home day" for him or not. Fast forward to now when we have literally been home every.single.day., and Brady still periodically wakes up and asks if it's going to be a "stay home day." When I tell him yes, he'll usually ask if it's a "stay home day for sisters, too." When I say yes, he'll excitedly cheer. The novelty of this situation has not worn off for him. He loves being at home with his people, so he is as happy as a clam right now! Derek is still working everyday, but the hospital is quiet which has meant he's been able to sneak out early here & there. It's been such a treat to get extra time with him.

{Rain or shine, we have to get outside!}

Last summer, I would run with Brady in the stroller & the girls would ride their bikes alongside us for about 2 miles. We got into a routine of doing this a couple times a week over the summer, and while the girls didn't always love this it was good for all of us. I decided to start this routine up again at the beginning of this whole pandemic, but Brady insisted he wanted to ride his bike with the girls. I knew that was a terrible idea, but I thought we'd at least give it a try. Brady totally blew me away and hung with us all the way until the end! He hasn't been in the jogging stroller since, which I have mixed emotions about! I never would have thought that the last week before Spring Break might have been my last time running with him in the stroller. I was so proud of all three kiddos when we got back from our first run/bike ride together, so these are their proud "after" faces below. We have continued to do this run/bike ride a couple of times a week every week. The hardest part is making sure no one's feelings get hurt when someone passes them on their bike. Thankfully we've only made one scene so far! ;)

You might think there is an overload of pictures of a sleeping Brady in this post, but to that I say...it's my blog! ;)  Brady has blown me away with the amount of sleeping he has done since our "shelter in place" began. At first I just assumed he was catching up on sleep after our Spring Break trip to Corpus Christi b/c when we travel, naps are usually completely out the window. But he has continued to sleep 11ish hours a night + a solid 3 hour nap each day. I guess it's exhausting having to keep up with his sisters all day every day, ha! Almost every single afternoon I have to go upstairs to wake him from his nap in order to preserve bedtime. And if I'm going to have to wake him up, you better believe I'll be getting a picture of that. ;)

With more time at home, I've tried to teach the girls random skills. On this particular day, the lesson was using an electric & manual can opener.

{Thankfully the coronavirus doesn't keep the toothfairy away!}

Praying this finds you safe, healthy, and happy !
