Lost Maples State Natural Area

Another weekend, another hike! Yesterday we ventured to Lost Maples State Natural Area for the first time. We absolutely loved it! We left the house around 7ish in the morning & didn't get home until around 5pm--it was a FULL day, but soooo fun!

We did about 4.5 miles of hiking + the kids climbed trees & waded in the river water--they slept well that night!!! Highlights from the day were crossing the river multiple times along the trail with the aid of stepping stones & walking sticks, the kids playing in the water, seeing baby armadillos, watching the kids try to catch tadpoles, getting celebratory DQ after our hike, and seeing a herd of zebras in someone's yard/field on the way home!

The picture below is of me waking Brady from his nap on Sunday {today}...I think it's fitting that this was the ONLY picture I took all day today. ;)  After our busy, adventurous day on Saturday, we thoroughly enjoyed a restful day at home!
