Every summer for the past 23 years (!!), my dad's side of the family hosts a golf tournament/family reunion with a potluck afterward. My parents, sister, and Logan drove up for the Schumacher Scramble, and we decided to join in the fun! When we initially planned this trip, we didn't know we'd be moving to Alaska. Once we found out about the move, a big part of me wanted to cancel this trip. But Derek insisted we should still go, and I'm so glad he did! It was so much fun and a good warm-up for our big road trip trip to Alaska.
On the way to St. Louis, we stayed the first night in Texarkana then made our way to Crater of Diamonds State Park, which we wouldn't really recommend. Maybe it was because it had recently rained quite a bit, but it just seemed like a big field of mud. ;) After that, we made our way to Hot Springs National Park.
I have sooooo many memories of going to Grant's Farm & Lone Elk Park as a kid, and it was such a full circle moment to take our kids to do these same things in St. Louis.
