38.5 Weeks!
How far along: 38.5 weeks
Weight Gain: As of my 38wk OB visit, I have gained 25 pounds. I remember putting on weight the quickest at the end with Shelby too, but hopefully I won't gain too much more in these last couple weeks!
Maternity clothes: It has been COLD here lately! I'm still managing to get by somehow with my maternity jeans & yoga pants and living in my maternity shirts b/c that's all that will cover my huge 9 month pregnant belly. Hopefully it'll warm up soon!
Sleep: Up until this past week, I have been sleeping really great! I even surprised myself and slept great on an air mattress while we were out of town in Birmingham for our niece's birthday. But then I managed to catch a little cold from Shelby. I really feel fine except at nighttime when I'm laying down. I usually fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow at night & sleep for a solid 3-4 block, but then after that I'm up after 30-60 minutes for the rest of the night and can't really get back to sleep after 6:30am. Hopefully I'll be able to kick this bug soon and get some good rest again!
Movement: Yes! :)
Food cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary :)
Symptoms: Feeling pretty good with the exception of my cold!
Gender: Another girl!
What I miss: Getting up and down off of the floor easily & a good night's sleep!
Best moment this week: Getting lots of things crossed off of our pre-baby checklist and getting some quality time with Derek this weekend! He had Friday, Saturday, & Sunday off and we managed to get leave Shelby with a babysitter twice! Thankfully, she LOVES her babysitters so it makes leaving her much easier right now. :)
What I'm looking forward to: I think we have finally decided on this sweet girl's name, so we have a few things to get personalized before her arrival! I'm looking forward to seeing her name in print to really make things official. (I'll probably share the name on the blog soon...once we're 110% sure!) I'm also looking forward to a "sprinkle" (aka small baby shower) some of my friends are hosting this Saturday for me and two of my other friends that are also expecting their 2nd babies. It will be so fun to have everyone together!
Update from 38wk appt: At my doctor's appointment this week, we discussed what the next couple of weeks might look like for us as we get closer to my due date. Each week at my check-ups, they ask me if I'm having any contractions (or any other signs of labor), and my reply is always the same--no! Thus far, this pregnancy has been strikingly similar to Shelby's so we are just trying to make sure we don't go all the way to 41.5wks again and then end up with an urgent c-section..if at all possible, of course. ;) As of now, our plan is still to attempt a VBAC if possible. If I continue to not have any contractions, they will check me at my 40wk appt (March 12th) and we'll re-evaluate our birth plan. If I have not progressed at all, I am not a candidate for induction b/c I have had a prior c-section. (Apparently the medicines/drugs used for inductions can cause uterine rupture in women who have had prior c-sections & haven't already started progressing on their own.) If I was a betting girl, I would say this sweet little baby will be just like her big sister and will not be making a timely appearance into this world. ;) But we'll see! My 39wk appt is this Thursday the 7th.
