Shelby-isms

Shelby is at such a fun age right now, and she's really starting to come into her own quirky little personality..and we love it! Here are a few things she does/says on a regular basis that we get a kick out of:

--Takes "laps" all.the.time. Whether it's running laps around the playground behind our house or laps around our kitchen island, Shelby is all about it! And she thinks everyone else should be doing it, too. And she doesn't understand why other people get tired and need to take a rest. ;)
--Goes through the aisles of clothes and shoes at Target and picks out random things and exclaims "Mommy, THIS is cute!" But it never fails that whatever I pick out is "not cute, Mommy." ;)
--Speaking of Target, ours has the giant red balls out in front of the store and Shelby has to run and hug each ball on our way in/out of the store.
--Derek & I almost always refer to ourselves as Mommy/Daddy in front of Shelby, but we have a habit of calling one another "love" or "lovie" on the phone. Now whenever Derek calls, Shelby always yells "Hi, Lovie!" ;)
--When Derek comes home from work, she always asks "Did Daddy have a good day at work?" And when he wakes up after working the night shift, she asks "Sleep good, Daddy?" Such a sweet girl :)
--Likes to have her music CD's playing all.the.time.
--Would read all day long if we let her.
--This is gross and probably TMI, but Shelby is very curious about the contents of her diaper these days. ;)  As soon as I take off her wet/dirty diaper, she tells me: "Shelby likes to look at it, Mommy!" That's my friendly reminder to show her the diaper before we throw it away. Gross, I know.
--Could live off of yogurt, bananas, & bowls of cereal.
--Her favorite "dance move" is spinning around in a circle until she makes herself dizzy. ;)
--Her idea for asking for something "nicely" is to say "please please with cherry on top" or "please ma'am" after her request
--Scared of vacuums & the sound of toilets flushing in public restrooms
--Likes to get in Daddy's truck when he gets home from work and pretend to drive
--Loves listening to Retreat & the National Anthem when they are played every weekday evening at 5pm on base. We always sing the National Anthem aloud, and Shelby will always tell us "Good singing, Mommy & Daddy!"
--Has very specific on what should be happening at any given time. For example, as soon as Daddy comes home from work, Shelby instructs him on what to do: "Daddy, take shoes off now. Daddy, take off jacket." She likes to take charge. ;)

I have taken to calling Shelby "my little crazy" as a nickname lately b/c there are just so many "crazy" things she does that leave us laughing hysterically or just scratching our heads wondering what in the world is going on in her head! But we wouldn't change one bit of her craziness...we love you, Shelby-girl!
