Veterans Day Weekend was a 4-day weekend for Derek (have I mentioned lately how thankful we are for Derek's wonderful schedule this year?!), so we headed out for New Orleans right after we picked up Shelby from school on Friday afternoon. It was so nice to be able to pack up the car while one kiddo was asleep & the other was at school! ;)
Once we arrived in New Orleans (only about a 90min drive for us from Keesler), the aquarium was our first stop!
This was the first time we let Hadley sit up in the stroller while we've been out. Always before, we had left her in the carseat (with the exception of the jogging stroller). She looked so big to us sitting up in the stroller! And of course, Shelby wanted to hold her hand! She's seriously the sweetest big sister.

This was Shelby 2 years ago at 13ish months old the last time we went to the NOLA aquarium.
I was thrilled we got a picture in the same spot for comparison's sake! :) |

Shelby absolutely loved this tank where you could stick your head inside!
She thought it was the coolest thing & kept doing it again & again! |
 |
Derek thinks this picture is hilarious, so he insisted I include it. ;)
I was not a fan of this part of the aquarium b/c the birds keep landing on you,
but BOTH girls were seriously LOVING it so we were in there for probably 30+ minutes! |

| Feeding the birds...Shelby could not get enough of this! |

| Another flashback to two years ago...crazy what a difference two years makes! |

See the bird way up there that Hadley had her eyes on?
She was so intently watching everything going on! |

| I couldn't get over how many birds were on this guy! I was so glad it wasn't me! ;) |

| See the bird INSIDE our diaper bag?! |
The aquarium was fun, but I think we all agreed that our favorite part there was the birds! After leaving the aquarium, we checked into our hotel, had a quick bit to eat, & then called it a night! As we were driving around New Orleans that afternoon/evening, there was a bit of Friday rush-hour traffic. While we were in some stop & go traffic, Shelby said to Derek: "Daddy, can you please stop stopping your truck now?" ;) After living in Biloxi for 3 years, none of the Smiths really handle traffic or city-driving all that well. ;) We will certainly miss Keesler when our time here is up!
More pics & recaps from NOLA to come!
Oh Smith...I can sympathize with that bird picture. I am terrified of the bird section of pet stores, zoos, etc. I cannot handle it. I wouldn't have been able to be in there.
