Weekend Recap!

Beautiful weather + birthday party + baby shower + exercise + time with friends = the recipe for a delightful weekend!! Plus, the dry, nagging cough/runny nose that has been plauging us for the past few weeks finally seems to be on its way out!! Yay! :)

Derek had to work on Saturday morning, and I took the girls to a birthday party for Shelby's BFF from school, Elise. These girls are seriously inseparable at school. They are too cute together! Every morning when Shelby gets to school, she walks straight over to Elise to give her a hug. Then they spend the rest of the day walking around hand in hand..they are too much! Shelby had an absolute BLAST at the birthday party, and it wore her out!

I love the smile on Shelby's face in this picture!

After the birthday party, we came home for lunch & naps. While the girls napped, Derek did this:

I was co-hosting a baby shower for 2 of my friends that are expecting new babies in a couple of months, and I was in charge of balloons. I had asked Derek to blow up the balloons for me at the BX after he got off work, and they were going to charge him $2.69 PER balloon! I couldn't believe that! Then the lady went on & on to Derek about the helium shortage. The what?! I had no idea there was such a thing as a helium shortage! You definitely learn something new every day. So Derek promptly went to Wal-Mart and bought a helium tank, which ended up being much cheaper. And I think we'll have enough helium left to blow up the balloons for Miss Hadley's party next weekend..score!

Derek kept the girls Saturday evening while I attended the shower. And then on Sunday, we had the best family day! Derek was home from work in time for lunch & playtime with us girls before naptime. The weather was just GORGEOUS, so we spent the entire evening outside! We went for a family run, playtime at the playground with the Goins family, and then a picnic dinner on the front porch for the girls! Yay for daylight savings time & more daylight!!!!!!

After the girls' picnic dinner, we got them bathed & put to bed. Then Derek picked us up some Outback to Go for dinner. We used to always pick up dinner after putting Shelby to bed when she was a baby (it was easier b/c she had such an early bedtime), but it's a rare treat for us these days! It was a great end to a lovely weekend!

Happy Monday, Everyone! Here's to a great week! :)
