Life Lately

We got our Halloween lights put away & trashed our jack-o-lanterns yesterday, so it's officially November!! Here's a look at what we've been up to as October came to an end & the start of November!

The weekend before Halloween we went to the "Haunted Reef" at Mandalay Bay, which is just their aquarium all decked out with spooky décor. The girls enjoyed it, but I think the aquarium was a little overpriced considering the size. If you're visiting Las Vegas, it definitely wouldn't be on my "must do" list. We had lunch in the food court of Mandalay Bay afterward..Shelby was a fan of the pizza!!

After the Haunted Reef, we took the girls to Hershey World for the first time!! They LOVED IT!!

Filling their bags with the different flavors of Hershey Kisses...dark chocolate is Shelby's new fave!!

Headed home with lots of Hershey goodness...maybe a trip to Hershey World two days before Halloween wasn't our best timing?! Ha!

The girls had almost as fun playing with their Hershey Kisses as they did eating them!

We took a trip to the library on Sunday afternoon for their family version of "Spooky Storytime." Shelby saw this advertised on a flyer from the library, and she was so excited that she was able to get to storytime again!! As crazy as it may sound, one of the saddest parts of Shelby starting Kindergarten this year was her missing out on our weekly storytime/trips to the library with us. So I'm really glad our library offers weekend storytimes as well so Shelby can get her storytime fix with us from time to time.

We kept my friend Jessica's little boy Machaon for a little while so she could attend her older daughter's Halloween party. This was the first time we have had a friend come play at our house since we moved here, and Hadley was just tickled to death! She kept wanting to show Machaon every single little thing we had. ;)  She was quite the hostess!

The dollhouse was a hit!

Reading after school

This picture was from yesterday after picking Hadley up from preschool..she was happy to have Daddy at home!!
We took advantage of having Daddy home on a weekday afternoon--the girls zoomed through their afternoon snack & homework so they could swim in the hot tub with Daddy!

Again, we took advantage of having Daddy home and decided to go out to eat for dinner. We let the girls choose the restaurant, and they both voted for The Cheesecake Factory! Mommy & Daddy weren't too disappointed with their choice, ha! ;)  Since Las Vegas doesn't have Chick-fil-a, our go-to restaurants here are Panera, Jason's Deli, & The Cheesecake Factory. You'll notice below that both girls are sporting necklaces at dinner. Right before we were getting ready to head out the door for dinner, they both went running upstairs and came down with necklaces. They said they wanted to look extra nice for dinner at a restaurant! ;)

I know I mentioned this yesterday, but we seriously could not be more grateful for Derek's flexible schedule. It's so nice for him to be able to take a day off here & there throughout the year so we can do things like chaperone a field trip and go out to eat on a weeknight. These little things may not seem like a big deal, but yesterday was such a blessing to us!

Happy Friday to you, friends!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your people!! The girls are super pumped about the Trolls movie opening this weekend. So if you need us, we'll be at the movie theatre! ;)
