ROSE BOWL

Our alma mater played in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day for the first time since 1943! The stars aligned for us, and we were able to attend the game! Derek had already taken the week off of work to hang out with us during the second week of the girls' Winter Break & Pasadena is an easy 4 hour drive from us, so all we had to do was figure out childcare. Much to our delight, the kids' sitter was available and willing to watch them for 18 hours (!!!) so we could make this trip happen! This was the first time we'd left our kids for more than a couple hours with anyone other than my mom, so this was a huge deal for us! It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience, and we are just beyond thankful we were able to be there for such an amazing game! The game was an emotional rollercoaster that went into double-overtime with the Dawgs on top in the end 54-48. We got back a little before midnight last night and made the mistake of turning ESPN on to find that they were replaying our game, and we got sucked in reliving it all! Needless to say, we were both dragging a bit today, but it was SO worth it!!

Still can't even believe what a wildly wonderful game that was last night and that our Dawgs will be playing for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP next week!! So, so exciting!!!!  GO DAWGS!!!

And posting those last confetti pics at the Rose Bowl made me think of the last time our Dawgs won the SEC championship in December of 2005 when Derek & I were seniors at UGA a short 12 years ago, so here's that pic just for fun! ;)
