Winter Break

Today was our last day of Winter Break, and it was a good one!! Derek worked a grand total of three days over the girls' break, so we had tons of laid back family time & it was delightful! Most days the weather was perfect--sunny & mid-sixties, so we took full advantage and made lots of trips to the park for the kids to play and the girls to ride their bikes. Favorite pasttimes at the park recently have been kicking for Brady {he is seeming less & less baby-ish and more like a little boy with each passing day!} and the girls liked to "swim" in the sand. ;)

A new park opened up about five minutes from our house with all of these insane climbing structures, big slides, and zip lines! We knew Shelby would love it, but much to our surprise Hadley was a big fan, too! We took advantage of having Daddy home & went a couple times to this park b/c I assured the girls we would never come to this park without him, ha! The park is really spread out {aka hard to keep an eye on kids when they inevitably go in different directions} plus there's just a lot of things they need assistance with {ie not easy to do when I have my hands full with Brady}. This park is a great addition to the already incredible selection of parks in Summerlin. I probably say to Derek at least once a week that the parks here are one of the things I will miss most when our time at Nellis is up. We will probably never again live in a place where we have so many unbelievable parks within such a short distance of our home. We don't take it for granted!

The only non-park outings we made were to see Ferdinand one afternoon {the girls loved it!} & to take the girls roller skating for the first time. The girls struggled with roller skating, and it'll be a good while before we're ready to attempt that with them again! But Derek & I were thrilled to discover all of our skills from elementary school skate nights came right back to us, ha! We're ready to go again sans kids!

With a little brother that needed to nap every afternoon, we spent most of his siesta time playing games with the girls which was a lot of fun! They're both getting to really fun ages for games! Favorites from the break were Checkers {for this game Hadley set up an "office" under the table where we were playing and we threw checkers down for her to add to her "collection" as people got jumped}, Scrabble {Hadley was the keeper of the bag of letter tiles and helped us keep score}, and Candy Land. :)  And of course we spent lots of time reading and staying in our PJs for far too long. ;)

As sad as we are to see this break come to an end, the girls are PUMPED to head back to school tomorrow sporting their red & black! We've all got our UGA gear ready to go so we can cheer on our DAWGS playing in the national championship tomorrow night! Win or lose, it has been such a fun season for the Bulldog Nation & we're so proud of our team!
