12 months

Shelby, you are 12 months old! A whole entire year old!! And what a wonderful year it has been!
And here is your last collage with all of your monthly pictures from your first year of life!
Here's what Miss Shelby is up to these days....
--you had your first little cold this month. For the first eleven months of your life, you were as healthy as a horse..so this was our first time handling a baby who was feeling under the weather. I don't know if it was harder on you or Mommy! But we both survived :)
--you went to your first storytime at the library this month, and we have started going every week! Your favorite part is the songs at the beginning of storytime.
--clapping all the time, and it is THE cutest thing!
--you can now pull up to your knees, but you are content to just stay on your knees. You haven't yet pulled all the way up to standing & part of me thinks it's b/c you're so tall! Once you get to your knees, you can reach whatever it is you want!
--we started your second Kindermusik class this month, and you are loving it even more than your first class {if that's possible}!
--I can't believe I haven't mentioned this before on the ole blog, but your preferred method of mobility is the "booty scoot." Shelby started doing it when she was in her baby pool this summer since the floor of the pool was slick it was easy for her to move around that way. She tried to do it on the carpet for the longest time by rocking herself forward and backward to gain momentum {for any of you Braves fans, she looked exactly like Leo Mazzone in the dug out}, and then one day she just started moving. She still does her army crawl, but this is hands down her primary method of mobility. I never knew that this was that unusual for a baby to do, but whenever we are at storytime, Kindermusik, or somewhere out and about where Shelby can get her booty scoot on...people just flock to her. They think it is so cute {which we do, too!}. I will try to post a video of it soon!
--babbling up a storm, but no real words yet. You have learned how to mimick our sounds very well though! If we say "ba-ba-ba" or "da-da-da," you can say it right back to us!
--You can still fit into a few of your 12 month clothes, but 18 month fits you much better. You wear mostly 18 & 24 month PJ's. You wear a size 4 diaper still during the day and a size 5 overnight diaper for bedtime.
--Still taking prevacid for your acid reflux, but hopefully your pediatrician will tell us we can stop taking that once we finally get in for your 12 month check-up next week.
--You still only have your two bottom teeth, but you are great at "gumming" your table food! :)
--you still L.O.V.E. your sleep! You usually sleep 12 hours every night and take two GOOD naps each day.
Shelby showing off her ability to pull up to her knees and trying to escape from her glider! :)
