Sisterly Love

Before Hadley was born, we often wondered/worried about how Shelby would react to a new baby  in the family. She loved baby dolls & seeing other babies in playgroup or at the store, but we weren't sure how she would feel about a baby in our house {or as she refers to it: "Shelby's house"..ha!} 24/7. As it turns out, we shouldn't have worried AT ALL! If anything, our only problem is that Shelby loves on Hadley just a little too much sometimes! ;)  She constantly wants to "check on Baby Hadley," burp her, put on her socks or hat, put a paci in her mouth, and as seen below..sing to her! ;)

This next video is of Shelby singing the national anthem to Hadley. We had absolutely NO idea that Shelby knew all the words to the anthem until recently when Derek overheard her singing it in her bedroom after she woke up from her nap one day. We live on base, so every evening at 5:00 they play retreat & the anthem over the loud speakers. When they do this, everyone has to stop {even the cars on the road!} and face the nearest flag. When the anthem comes on, we've always sung it aloud to Shelby. She had never attempted to sing along with us before, so we never had a clue that she knew all the words. But apparently she'd been paying attention! ;)

There is seriously nothing sweeter than watching Shelby interact with her baby sister. It melts our hearts every.single.time. And it about kills us that she already knows to use a high-pitched "baby talk" voice when she is talking to Hadley..it is so cute! Whenever we ask Shelby to do something {ie. put her toys away, come to the table, etc.}, her new favorite response is: "No thanks, I'm busy talking to Baby Hadley." :)  It's hard to be mad when she's being that sweet to her sister! ;)

We are so proud of the big sister Shelby has become over the past couple of weeks! There are countless times throughout each day where I feel guilty b/c I am not able to give "enough" attention to one of the girls, but it makes it all worth it to know that they will have a built-in best friend for the rest of their lives. We are so thankful for these two sweet girls!
