Happy Birthday, Derek!

Today marks my sweet hubby's 29th birthday. You may think age is only a number, but ages are very important in our house thanks to a certain 2 year old. Shelby associates all numbers with people's ages. Whenever she hears the number two, she excitedly exclaims "Shelby is two!" like it is ground-breaking information every.single.time. Ha! She knows how old all of her friends are, and she sometimes likes to refer to people as their ages. For example, when Derek gets up from the table, Shelby will say: "Come back, 28!" ;)  We thought it might throw her for a loop now that Derek & I will have the same age. So we've been mentally preparing her for Derek's "number" changing. Ha! She seems very excited about the change, but I think that's just because in her world birthdays mean she gets cupcakes! ;)
