------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are getting so excited about our upcoming trip to Disney World! I finally feel like we've got a good handle on flying with kids and how best to do Disney best for our little family. It's such a good feeling to not be so stressed about the travel aspect for a change and to just feel excited about the memories that we'll be making together! The previous times we've gone to Disney or flown to GA, I've worried about every possible scenario going wrong--how are we going to get through security, how am I going to keep them busy on the plane, what if they don't sleep in the hotel, the list goes on. ;) I finally we feel like we've got it all down, and I'm so thankful!
NEW BOOKS
I always order 2 new books for each of the girls to put in their backbacks that they carry on the plane. I don't let the girls see the books until we are on the plane.
LUNCHBOX
Depending on the time of our flight, I either pack a lunch or dinner for the girls to eat while we are on the plane. This is an amazing way to kill time!!
TABLETS
Enough said. ;)
CRAYONS & PAPER
I bring a set of crayons in a plastic baggie & a notebook of blank paper for drawing for each of the girls. {Our girls will spend waaay more time drawing their own pictures than they will coloring in a coloring book.} I usually let them draw while we wait at the gate before boarding. I don't let the girls look at their books, eat a snack, or play with their tablets while we wait to board so that way they'll want to eat/read/play games {aka sit quietly} when we're on the plane. When we're at the gate, it's all about drawing, looking out windows at the planes, potty breaks, and walking around while we still can. ;)
YOGURT MELTS
The first time we flew with the girls I brought along a bag of yogurt melts for the girls {which they think are even better than candy!} to snack on thinking that might help with their ears at take-off/landing. Well, neither of them really seemed to have any issue with their ears on any of our flights...but I keep on packing the yogurt melts anyhow. They are our saving grace when we feel like we don't have any more tricks up our sleeve. ;)

And the keys to success for us at Disney World are pretty simiple....
DON'T OVERPLAN
I know some people like to get their character meal reservations six months in advance & have all of their FastPasses ready before they even arrive at Disney, but that's just not us. The first two times we went to Disney with the girls, we reserved our princess breakfasts at Akershus from our hotel room maybe 1-2 days prior. We're feeling all kinds of ahead of the game this time around b/c we booked our princess breakfast a few weeks before our trip, ha! Sure, we consult the Disney site & app to know when parades will be, where we can find our girls' fave characters at each park....but we really like to just go & enjoy Disney and do whatever the girls want to do each day instead of rushing them from one thing to another.
NAPS
Just as we don't like to "overplan" our Disney trip, we don't like to cram too much into each day while we're there b/c we still have young kids. If our kids were older, then maybe we would be singing a different tune. But the fact is, we still have two girls who nap every day. We always see kiddos passed out in strollers while we're at Disney, and we just do NOT have those kind of kids. ;) And we're totally okay with that!! Since we always stay on property at Disney {Shades of Green}, we're close enough that we can go back to our hotel room every day to let the girls nap...and if I'm being honest, to let the grown-ups rest & recharge too, ha! ;) Breaking up our day with naps keeps everybody happier & it enables us to enjoy the parks in the evenings, which we would NOT be able to do otherwise b/c the girls would totally be melting down by dinnertime and nobody would be having fun, so naps work for us! And then We love Magic Kingdom at night--it's less hot, crowds are lighter, & hello Electrical Parade!!! Last year we did take one day where we sent Hadley back to the hotel with Grammy & Grampy for her nap and let Shelby skip her nap to enjoy the 3:00 parade at Magic Kingdom. We hope to do that again this year!
We also like to plan a day or two of "rest" into our week at Disney. We usually go for 6 days but only have park passes for 4 days. We're able to enjoy our trip much more by breaking up our trip with a relaxing day at the pool or walking around Downtown Disney instead of go-go-go for 4 days straight. It works for us :)

We're all so, so excited about our trip!! Shelby is over the moon excited about being tall enough to ride Space Mountain!! ;) And I am super excited b/c we get to eat at Cinderella's Royal Table for the first time!! We've done Akershus the past two times we've gone with the girls, which we've LOVED, but I think eating inside Cinderella's Castle will be really special for the girls!

I'll be back later this week with picture overload from our trip! :)
