Life Lately

Here are some random pictures of our life lately!

Our library has this awesome shaded porch with these rocking chairs, and the girls were so excited to sit out there and read their new books now that it's not 100 degrees outside every day anymore! ;)

This was the birthday note Shelby wrote to her friend Kaelyn. The "I'm going to miss you" is in reference to our trip to Disney. She's very worried all of her friends will miss her while we're gone! ;)  It's amazing how far her proficiency in writing has come in the last couple of months. She has been really into writing letters/cards to people for a while, but it would take for-ev-er to get just one done. I was really worried I waited until the last minute to get the birthday cards done for the party this weekend b/c the kids are twins, which meant making two cards & I just didn't think we'd have the time. But Shelby knocked them out in no time! It's been a true delight to watch her grow as a reader & writer.

These next couple of pictures are kind of old, but I came across them when I was uploading pictures today & I had to include them for memory's sake! The Goins had their twin baby boys back in mid-August, and shortly after that I developed bronchitis and just could not kick my cough for about 3.5 weeks. {I have seriously never coughed so much in my entire life, and the back pain from all the coughing was like nothing else!!} So needless to say, we kept our distance from the babies to avoid sharing any germs with them! The girls were thrilled to finally get to see the babies once I was better :)

This was the conversation Hadley & I had as I was putting her in her crib for nap this afternoon:

Me: Hadley, are you excited to ride on the airplane to Disney World soon?!
H: Me gonna hold Matt at Disney World.
Me: Oh, you're holding Matt at Disney World?
H: Oh, and Reed too!

I texted Angela this exchange b/c I was sure she'd be happy to learn that we were taking their two newborns off her hands for a week. ;)


Speaking of the Goins,  Adam/Will and Shelby are both on the same MWF school schedule this year {their schedules always conflicted in the past}, so we are taking advantage of that & trying to meet them at their park for a picnic & playtime on Thursdays! Their playground is entirely fenced in, so the big kids have a big time running around together...which makes conversation a bit easier for us mamas & gives us amazing afternoon naps! :)  And it's a good easy outing for Angela with two newborns in tow..it's a win-win-win! The picture below was taken of Hadley at the Goins' playground after she came running back to Mommy for some comfort..it's hard trying to keep up with the big kids all the time!! My sunglasses cheered her up ;)
