Thursdays

My first few months of being a stay-at-home mom were so hard on me. It was hard figuring everything out the first time around! And the fact that I didn't have any family or friends living nearby certainly didn't make it any easier. But looking back, I think the hardest thing for me was I thought I was just supposed to stay home with the baby all day. And that is just sooo not my personality to sit at home all day, no wonder I was struggling! Once Shelby got a little older, we started getting out for regular activities each day and it made the world of difference for both of us! I miss our little Biloxi routines of Bear Cub Club, Excel by Five, and Kangarooz.

We've fallen into a pretty good routine here in SA, but I must say I love our Thursdays! This year, Shelby and Adam both go to school on Mon/Wed/Fri, and it's so nice having them on the same school schedule--much easier to coordinate playtime for the kids (and adult conversation for the Mamas!). Thursdays have become our official day. I bring Chick-fil-a for all of us, and we meet up at their playground for lunch and playtime. The best part of their playground is that it is fenced in and always empty, so the kids can run around and have a big time and we don't have to worry about anyone running off. We look forward to our Thursdays each week, and the Goins are just such a blessing to all four of us. It's a pretty rare thing for the husbands, wives, and the kids to all get along so well and genuinely enjoy one another's company.

An old collage I made of Shelby & Adam..they were so little!!

January is registration & enrollment month at Marvelously Made, and they sent home a Kindergarten packet for Shelby & a preschool packet for Hadley. Just looking at the forms and realizing I wouldn't be filling them out just about brought me to tears. {I truly cannot put into words how much I love Shelby's school--it gives new meaning to the expression "one of a kind."} We still have absolutely zero official news about our next PCS, but Derek feels very confidently that we will be moving somewhere this summer. We have a pretty good idea of where we would be most likely moving, but we're trying not to get attached to anything until it's official. As much as we despise moving and getting adjusted to a new city, we love the fact that we get to see different parts of the country & different cultures thanks to the Air Force. We are super excited about this next chapter for our family, but thinking about leaving MM & saying goodbye to two families who we've done life alongside for almost 5 years now is going to be plain hard. My coping mechanism right now is to just not think about it b/c I can't plan or prepare for a move to an undetermined location, and there's no point in being sad yet! There will be plenty of time for that later. ;)  So for now, we're enjoying what's left of our time in SA..especially our Thursdays! :)
