San Diego {Spring Break 2017}

This past week was Shelby's Spring Break, so we took advantage of her time off from school & headed to San Diego for the very first time! It was a relatively short trip--we left on Sunday morning & came home Wednesday night. We had so much fun exploring a new city together! And we discovered we FINALLY have a kid who will sleep in the car on road trips--this is HUGE, people!!!! Brady got all of one real nap {read: not on the go} nap over a 4 day period, but you never would have known otherwise! He was the BEST baby on this trip! Who am I kidding, he's always the best baby..he just really blew us away this trip!

The views in San Diego were pretty incredible! It was so crazy driving around town & seeing the types of houses people live in there and how they were situated up on the hills. I could have spent a whole day just driving around San Diego looking at houses! While we were there, we visited Point Loma & the tide pools, the Cabrillo National Monument, the San Diego Zoo, spent some time at the beach, and visited the Natural History Museum & the Maritime Museum. We also ate at Chick-fil-a & Panera an inordinate amount of times. ;)  At this point in our lives, we want to eat where everyone in our family is happy...and that means a lot of Chick-fil-a & Panera. ;)  We also tried out a donut shop & gourmet cupcake shop that was featured on Cupcake Wars while we were there--our family has priorities! Ha!

 {Hadley was NOT a fan of the gondola ride!}

 {Hadley had so much fun playing in the sand, but she was wary of the water! She would run to the water's edge & then sprint back up to the dry sand!}

{This girl was OFF THE CHARTS excited to be at the beach! She was so genuinely exuberant. Shelby literally could not stop herself from running, jumping, skipping, and squealing. She was having the BEST time! I can't wait to get her back to Ormond this summer!}

{Hadley was making her dinosaur "roar" in this pic, ha!}

{never was a shirt more perfectly suited for me}

{the girls were less than impressed with the National Geographic art exhibit until we started mimicking the animals, then they couldn't get enough of it!}

{the views were unreal here!}

The pic above was the first thing Hadley did when we got home from our trip. We realized about 15 minutes into our drive to San Diego that we forgot Hadley's beloved bear (who is coincidentally named none other than "Bear"). She was so mad at us, but we knew she'd be fine so we decided to press on with the trip. She would start singing along with us on the drive, then remember that she was mad at us and just stop mid-lyric and scowl at us. She was totally over it by the time we arrived in San Diego & never really mentioned it again until the day we were coming home. She raced up to her room to "rescue" Bear when he got home & immediately had to feed him. ;)
