Life Lately

I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! I can't believe we're almost half-way through May! This week is a hectic week for us with Teacher Appreciation at the girls' school & lots of other fun activities planned as the school year is rapidly coming to a close!

After we moved into this house almost 2 years ago, we began our first ever attempt at gardening. We've learned a lot along the way, and Derek is eager to start our next garden when we move later this summer. Typically, we buy about 3 cartons of strawberries each week from the commissary. But ever since our garden started producing strawberries a few weeks ago, we now only buy maybe one carton of strawberries each week! It's been so fun for us all to go out together and pick strawberries from our very own garden! Below is a picture of Derek with his haul after he had gone outside after dinner to harvest the strawberries.

Last week, Shelby's class put on the cutest play! The students & teachers all did such a fabulous job putting it together! The play was called "We Are Monsters." Shelby has a big class of about 40 students with two co-teachers. Most of the students were either monsters, werewolves, or vampires with 4 humans. Shelby was a human in the play & is pictured below with her three human counterparts. :)  And there's also a picture of Brady with the best seat in the house mesmerized by the play.

Lately when Brady has been napping in the afternoons, Hadley & I will go outside together for 20-30 minutes and sit in the shade and read together. I bring my novel, and she brings a stack of about 10 picture books and we are good to go. :)  Sometimes I can't believe how grown up she has become! It's hard to believe I'll be losing my sidekick next year to Kindergarten! But, boy is she ready!

We've been spending a lot of time in the pool the past couple of weeks, and it's been so fun to watch Brady as he gets more & more comfortable in the water. Never did I think we'd be "pool in the backyard" kind of people, but we have loved having our own pool and all the memories we've made together as a family in it over the past two years. We can't wait to make more memories in our new pool in San Antonio!
