Fourth of July 2023: Glacier View Car Launch

In Alaska {the land of the midnight sun}, fireworks are a bigger deal near/on New Year's Eve than they are for the Fourth of July simply because they're harder to see when the sun won't ever go down. ;)  There were a couple of local Fourth of July fireworks shows, but they all started around midnight for optimal viewing. So, we decided to try something different & quintessentially Alaskan this year instead! We drove out to Glacier View, which is about a 90ish minutes from our house. Every year, they host a car launch off the side of a cliff. We had no idea what to expect, but it was quite the experience! A car launch in a remote part of Alaska tends to bring out a few eclectic characters to say the least. I don't think I've ever seen so many people carrying openly in my life! It was a very well attended event. We were blown away by how crowded it was & how close everyone was to the cars going off the cliff, ha! This was definitely a Fourth of July we won't soon forget!
