Spring Break 2016, Part One

As I mentioned before, the girls and I spent Shelby's Spring Break in Georgia at Grammy & Grampy's house. The last time the girls & I had been home was just for a few days last summer before our beach trip to Florida, so this trip was well over-due! I know I have said this probably a million times, but I'm immensely grateful that our girls have been blessed with the opportunity to have such a close relationship with my parents and that they get to grow up with so many memories of going to "Grammy & Grampy's house." I hope Shelby & Hadley will realize one day how lucky they are to have such loving grandparents! Okay, on to the picture overload!! :)

Our flight out of San Antonio was Friday afternoon, so Derek snuck out of work for a couple hours to drive us to Shelby's school to pick her up & then on to the airport! Hadley was loving the chance to get to see Daddy in the middle of the work day! :)

Waiting to board our flight after a 30 minute delay out of San Antonio, so thankful for such good travelers!

The first morning at Grammy & Grampy's house calls for donuts, of course!!!!
Saturday was our first full day in Georgia. After eating our donuts, we loaded up in the car & headed to McDonough to visit my sister & her family and see their new house for the very first time! It was a great day, but the girls were already worn out by this time between a day of travel + time change + no naps for two days in a row. ;)  Shelby was being a little disobedient & said something sassy to me as we were on our way to go to the bathroom. When we got in the bathroom together, she said: "I'm sorry I was being rude, Mama. I just need my nap." When I broke the news to her that she wasn't going to get a nap that day (or the next day for that matter!), she looked at me with the most pitiful face. This girl definitely appreciates her naps! Even though she almost NEVER sleeps in the car, she managed to nod off for 5-10 minutes on the drive back to my parents' house that afternoon. If this girl is ever asleep in the car, you know things are rough!

On Sunday, we spent the day at Derek's dad's house with Granddad & Grandma. And Derek's sister & her family even made the drive over from Birmingham to join us for the day! The kids had so much fun playing together!

Derek built this French drain at his dad's house I don't even know how long ago, so I enjoyed the fact climbing up and down the rocks in the drain was what entertained the girls the most when we got to their house ;)
Playing hide & seek in the backyard with Granddad & Grandma! When we got back to San Antonio & Derek asked Shelby what her favorite part of the whole week was, this was her answer! :)

Sweet cousins!
We totally didn't plan it, but I love how the big cousins are both in pink & the little cousins are in green :)

We headed over to Stone Mountain Park for a picnic lunch & playtime at the playground. I love this next shot of all the kiddos walking hand in hand with Granddad. :)

Playing the "high five game" with Leland, aka giving each high fives over & over & over again ;)
The girls are still talking about how fun this game was, ha!

On Monday, the girls & I got to spend the morning with my BFF from high school/college roomie/bridesmaid in my wedding, Lindsey & one of her sweet kiddos at the park. Between us living out of state for the past 9 years & her family living in Africa as missionaries, I can't even remember the last time we'd seen one another! It was such a treat to get to spend time with Lindsey & catch up a bit! My mom was nice enough to join us too, so she was a huge help with the girls so I could focus more on chit-chatting. :) Moms are the best!

Hadley, Shelby, & Jillian
Lindsey has 3 kiddos, but only Jillian tagged along to meet us at the park. Zoe was in PreK & Zak, her littlest one, was at home with Lindsey's mom so she would have one less little one to keep up with...again, what would we do without our mamas?!

And every afternoon when Grampy got home from work, the girls were itching to go outside with him to take turns on the rope swing in the backyard.

On Tuesday, we headed over to Shane Company to get my wedding rings cleaned & inspected (every place we have lived since our wedding hasn't had this store, so it's always something to add to our already jam-packed to-do list when we're visiting in GA) and then visited Grampy at work and went to lunch with him at Chick-fil-a! :)

I sent Derek this picture of the girls admiring their birthstones in the jewelry case while we waited on my rings to be cleaned and asked him if this sight made him nervous for the years ahead ;)

This girl is the definition of sassy.

More fun in the backyard! Can't get over how tall Shelby looks standing there with my mom!

We always manage to pack lots of fun things into our visits in Georgia, but my favorite moments of all are ones like this next one below. Shelby adored her special reading time with Grampy every morning when she woke up and every night before bed.

I'll wrap up the second half of our Spring Break in another post!
