Derek has been out in Los Angeles for the past week attending & presenting at an Allergy & Immunology conference, and we are BEYOND thrilled that he is coming home TONIGHT! Hooray! Of course, as luck would have it, Shelby got sick as SOON as Derek left for his trip last Wednesday. And let me just tell you, being stuck at home with sick kids for multiple days in a row with Derek out of town was far from ideal. The lack of adult interaction definitely started to wear on me, but we made it!!! We even managed to have a little fun while we were at it, but mostly I'm just thankful we all survived. ;) Hadley & I have a tendency to butt heads at time b/c she can be pretty stubborn when she wants to be. Without Daddy home this past week, Hadley developed a fun new habit of crying & running to Shelby whenever she felt Mommy was being mean to her. And Shelby totally always sided with Hadley and consoled her from Mean Mommy. ;) One of my favorite quotes of the week from Shelby while she was consoling her little sister: "Hadley, whenever you have tears, you can come cry on my arm. People always come to me when they're crying, and I love their tears on my arms." Maybe Shelby will be a therapist one day?!
Shelby was super bummed to be missing school on Friday, so we decided to cheer ourselves up & kick off the weekend with a Dunkin Donuts run!!!
By the time the weekend rolled around, Shelby's fever was long gone but she had a lingering cough and her energy level just wasn't quite back to normal, so our activities were definitely limited & we stayed home so she could get as much rest as possible. Thankfully, the weather was gorgeous & we were able to get out for some fresh air here & there (read: me throwing them in the jogging stroller for a quick run to save my sanity!), and we even made a trip to the movie theatre one morning to see Zootopia!

And my favorite picture of the week....Shelby reading a story to Hadley while she sat in her lap. Are they not the sweetest?! Shelby made it about half way through the book before asking Hadley to get off her lap b/c she was getting too heavy. ;)
Happy Tuesday, Everyone!! :)
