Derek's 28th Birthday

Yesterday was my sweet hubby's 28th birthday! We had such a fun day celebrating him! The video that I posted yesterday (you can see it HERE if you missed it) was a little surprise for Derek. Shelby & I had been secretly practicing the birthday song together for about a week. We sent the video to Derek at work yesterday morning to surprise him, and then we gave him the live version when he came home from the hospital. I think he really enjoyed it! :)

After serenading Derek when he walked in the door, we gave Derek his cards & gifts from us girls. He was very happy to see this cookie cake!

Whenever I go to the mall (which is very rare b/c our mall here is terrible), I always get a few cookies from the Great American Cookie Company to bring home. I always get enough for Derek & me to share, but he always says he'd prefer cookie cake. To which I always reply, "Well, this is all we have." So I always end up eating all the cookies. But seriously, who likes cookie cake from Great American Cookie Company but not their cookies?! (To be fair, it's not that he doesn't like them per say..he just doesn't enjoy them as much as the normal person.) So I finally got him his coveted cookie cake! :)  Shelby was very intrigued by the cake, too ;)

After snacking on some cookie cake, we headed out the door to run a few errands and eat a quick birthday dinner at Dairy Queen. Then we came home to put Miss Shelby to bed, and Derek & I got to work on finishing a project we had started last month--an artwork display for our kitchen. We got it finished and hung up last night, and we were both thrilled with the outcome! It was a little after 9pm when we finished, so I didn't have the energy to pull out the camera to take a picture of it...but I'll be sure to post pics later! After we finished, we relaxed on the couch and watched Derek's choice--"Call of the Wild Man." At least that's what I think it's called?! It's a silly little show on Animal Planet that Derek enjoys. :)

Yesterday was such a fun day for the three of us! Shelby & I enjoyed celebrating with the most wonderful hubby & father! We sure are lucky girls! :)  We love you, Derek!
