Weekend Recap!

We had a fun weekend, but I think we're all still a little tired! It suddenly dawned on Derek & me why we're so exhaustedthough--since we got back from GA on the 30th of November, we have been going non-stop. Decorating for Christmas, holiday events, Christmas shopping, family pictures, throw in the fact that Derek hasn't had a single day off work due to wards (the weekends brought super short work days, but the alarm clock still went off waaaay too early), and just the every day duties that come along with a baby & 3 year old...and we are WORN OUT!  But at least we're tired out from fun stuff. ;)  Back to our weekend....

Friday night we went to Christmas at Beauvoir, which is Jefferson Davis's home all decked out for Christmas. This was their 2nd annual Christmas at Beauvoir, and we've gone both years. This year was much more put-together than last year. Shelby's favorite part was riding the train, just like last year! ;)  Of course I forogt my camera, but it was a really fun family night! I think my favorite part was the lighted archway path they had with mistetoe hanging everywhere. It was fun to introduce Shelby to mistetoe, and we got a kick out of running around stealking kisses from her under the mistetoe.

Saturday was Shelby's BFF's birthday party at Monkey Joe's! We had such a fun morning celebrating Adam turning three!!

It was supposed to rain Saturday afternoon/evening, so we made plans to stay in. We watched Toy Story 2 & did some Christmas crafts. We finished up our craft projects on Sunday morning. It's so hard to capture genuine smiles from Shelby on camera these days b/c she always gives us a fake "cheese" smile. But this smile is the real deal, and it makes my heart so happy!!

Sunday was Disney on Ice!! And of course, I forgot my camera again! But it was seriously SO fun! Shelby loved it! She would get SO excited every time a new princess came out on the ice! Although at one point in the middle of the show, she took her eyes off of the ice & started looking around at the crowds of people everywhere & looked at me. In the most serious tone ever, she asked: "Mommy, why are we here?" Ha! ;)  Hadley had a blast, too! Between all of the lights, music (she would sway back and forth/bounce to the music!), & the constant supply of snacks Daddy was providing....she had the best time! The lighting was terrible in the coliseum, so it was so hard to get any pictures with my phone..but here are two that we mangaged to get.

It's hard to believe Christmas is so close! Yesterday was Shelby's last day of school until after New Year's, and today was her last day of Bear Cub Club until the New Year as well! Crazy! And I was finally able to get my Christmas cards out in the mail today!! Yay!! Christmas cards are one of my very favorite parts of this time of year. I love sending them & receiving them! But this year, Christmas cards were way too stressul for me! I kept waiting and waiting (and waiting!) for Hadley to sit up so we could get family pictures done, so that really put a kink in my plans to get Christmas cards ready! Angela & I are vowing to hold each other accountable next year to get family pictures done in October, so we won't be so rushed! I like to take my time to hem & haw over all of the cards before having to choose! Derek, on the other hand, is thinking having pictures done in October will just cause me more stress b/c I'll have too much time to decide & then I'll get indecisive! Ha! First-world problems right here! ;)
