Beginning of Germany trip 2012

 Hi everyone!
I'm in Landstuhl, Germany, for the next month while I work in the Trauma ICU. I'm settled in now and things are going well at the hospital. I had my first full day off here to recover from jetlag so I hopped on a train to the city of Trier which was about 2hrs away. It is oldest city in Germany and has quite a few Roman ruins to check out. Below are a few of the things that I saw!

Porta Nigra- the Roman gate that guarded the city
If you notice, the door was placed on the second floor for safety reasons and they would throw out a rope ladder to guests.

Classic German architecture

Elaborate fountain....this guy got water from it and took it into his shop. I didn't eat there.

The Dom

Inside the Dom...pretty amazing

Random tree art that I found while hiking to the castle

Burg Nanstein is the local castle in the Landstuhl which is unfortunately in ruins

View from Burg Nanstein...not too shabby for a front yard
I'll try to keep the blog updated with my adventures during my days off! If anyone needs to contact me, please email me as I don't have reliable phone access here!

Love and miss everyone!
