Grammy to the Rescue!

About 24 hours after I published {THIS} post, I got sick. Obviously, Shelby wasn't having a reaction to her flu shot as I initially thought but actually fighting off a stomach bug. Thankfully, she had a very mild version of the bug. I, on the other hand, did not. I was sick for a full 24 hours and it took a few days for my energy level & appetite to return to normal. I had NO idea how difficult it would be to deal with a stomach bug and take care of an active toddler on my own. It was truly one of the hardest days I can remember ever having to get through. I can't even tell how you grateful I was when I called my mom, and she immediately told me she'd be on her way to Biloxi the next morning. I assured my mom it was probably just a 24 hour bug and that I would hopefully be feeling much better by then, but she still insisted on coming. :)  And I don't know who was happier to see her when she arrived--Shelby or me. After I had spent a full 24 hours either in bed, on the couch, or in the bathroom, Shelby was seriously craving some attention! My mom has given Shelby all the attention & love in the world, allowed me time to rest & recuperate, helped me rid the house of any lingering germs, and tackled some serious deep-cleaning--my oven, stovetop, and refrigerator are now all immaculate & sparkling clean! I am so blessed to have a mom who will put her entire life on hold and drive over 400 miles away on only a day's notice to help me out. I hope & pray I can be the kind of mother to Shelby that my mom is to me!

I will try to wrap up the rest of the Shelby's birthday posts in the coming days! Hope you have a great weekend!
