Our Week

**This portion of the post was written on the evening of Friday, October 5th.**

Usually the first day or two after Derek leaves is always the hardest for me, so I was kind of dreading this past week. But it turned out to be such a great week! It was productive & fun! Shelby has been in such a great mood this past week and has really been cooperative, and that has made the world of difference! It's been one of those weeks where I have felt really productive {mostly stuff for the KSC auction} and like I've been a really good mom, too. Because I like lists and am particularly proud of myself, here's what we've accomplished :)

PRODUCTIVITY
--3 KSC meetings
--picked up 6 donations for the auction
--made countless phone calls/emails in regards to the auction
--finished thank you notes for Shelby's birthday
--flu shots
--delivered meal to a friend with a new baby
--daily chores

BEING A GOOD MOM :)
--3 fun playgroups/playdates {one included a trip to our local children's museum}
--Kindermusik
--several art projects
--dinner/playtime at Chick-fil-a one evening
--lots of outside time
--LOTS of reading together (not that this is noteworthy though b/c this happens every day)

A few random cell phone pics from our week...

Sporting our first Halloween shirt of the season! Shelby loved looking
at the pumpkins on her shirt :)

It's funny how Shelby is slowly transitioning from my baby to my little buddy. She really has been such a good companion this week! I have been so thankful for her company and her sweet little personality. Since we've had so much more one-on-one time together this week than we normally do, it's been fun to see her little personality come out more & more and to see her conversational skills develop further. A couple cute things Shelby did/said this week that I want to remember...

--I took Shelby with me to Target on Monday evening. When we go to Target with Daddy, Shelby is usually allowed to walk with us through the store (as opposed to riding in the cart), which she loves! But that only happens when Daddy is with us b/c it typically takes both of us to keep an eye on her. :)  She really wanted to walk on this particular evening, so I told her she could walk for a couple minutes. Well, a couple minutes turned into the entire 45 minute shopping trip b/c she was literally the best little shopping buddy...even as I hemmed and hawed over which fall shoes to get for her and as I rummaged through jeans to find her size. It was such a fun evening with her, and it got me so excited for all of our mommy-daughter shopping days to come!
--On Tuesday evenings, we have Kindermusik at 5:15. Shelby took a long nap on Tuesday and I had to go in and wake her up so we could leave on time. I rushed her through diaper change, getting dressed, and eating snack and she sleepily & sluggishly moved through the motions without saying a word. I left her alone for about 1 minute to run in the other room to put my shoes on. All of a sudden, I heard the pitter-patter of little feet and Shelby shouting: "I ready to go, Mommy! Ready to go!" :)
--Shelby had a GREAT day at Mother's Morning Out this week! Drop-off has been a little rough the past couple of times, but she's always happy when I pick her up. But even drop-off went smoothly this week! When I picked Shelby up, I excitedly exclaimed: "I'm so proud of you, Shelby!" For the remainder of the afternoon, I continually heard: "I so proud of you, Mommy!"

**The remainder of this post was written tonight--Saturday, October 6th.**

Of course as soon as I thought everything was going as smooth as possible, something is bound to happen. Shelby & I both had our flu shots on Friday afternoon. I purposefully planned our flu shots for Friday b/c I knew we had no plans this weekend. Last year, Shelby had a bit of flu-like symptoms after getting the shot, so I wanted to be prepared in case that happened again this year. Well, we did have a reaction...but not the kind I was expecting.

Shelby took a long nap after her shot Friday afternoon and was completely fine that evening. But when I went in to get her up this morning, I found her covered in chunky vomit. Fun times. I panicked a bit at first b/c this is the first time Shelby has vomited. Now don't get me wrong, we dealt with our fair share of spit up with Shelby's acid reflux {it still doesn't seem like that long ago that I had to pack extra clothes for Shelby and me everywhere we went b/c she spit up so often}. But since she outgrew her acid reflux around 10-ish months, we haven't had one bit of spit-up/vomit. But I quickly calmed down b/c Shelby was acting completely normal & happy, so I thought maybe it was just a fluke. She asked for milk, so after getting her cleaned up and throwing her bedding in the wash I decided we would just go along with our morning routine as normal. I gave her some milk and her vitamin without giving it much thought. Rookie mistake. About 10 seconds after the vitamin went in her mouth, out came the vitamin and her milk. Poor baby had no idea what happened. "Oh no, Mommy! I spill!" :)

Thankfully that was the end of the vomiting. Who knew you could react like that to a flu shot?! Shelby acted completely happy all day aside from not showing any interest in eating. We stuck to the BRAT diet, and I did my best to keep fluids in her. Hopefully tomorrow will be back to normal. :)
